George Scott III was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. His parents instilled in him a strong work ethic and desire to serve others in his community. He joined Rockford’s chapter of NAACP in high school and remains involved as his father serves as the current president.
George attended college at the University of Northern Iowa and was involved in Entrepreneurs Club, Black Student Union, and participated in Pi Sigma Epsilon Regional Conferences. George started a career with Chick-fil-A as an Executive Director of Operations. He traveled across the country training local store leadership for operational effectiveness with new openings.
George moved to Des Moines, IA in March 2023 to pursue a career at the YMCA of Greater Des Moines as a Talent Acquisition Specialist. George is involved with several local organizations including the Youth Justice Initiative (YJI). When helping with YJI, George collaborates with the West Des Moines Police Department and many other members in our community to serve repeat juvenile offenders. He is passionate about providing support and restorative processes with youth in our community to promote healing, increase accountability and provide solutions.
Outside of work and community involvement, George resides with his significant other (Alex) and their two fur children (Tiger and Teddi). Tiger is a four year old Miniature Labradoodle and Teddi is a three year old Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix.
